一种最受萨尔瓦多人欢迎的食物是玉米馅饼。这种饼以玉米粉或米粉做饼皮，用干酪、豆、猪肉等食材做馅，吃的时候蘸点番茄酱，配上沙拉一起吃。沙拉通常用卷心菜、胡萝卜、洋葱和辛辣的醋来做。吃玉米馅饼时有些人会用刀叉，但萨尔瓦多人习惯用手拿着吃。
